We've all wondered at some point: 'Why am I trying to get healthier and lose weight?' Is it something I truly want for myself, or am I just trying to meet others' expectations?
Maybe it's a deep-down feeling that being healthy and looking good is essential to achieving my goals. Perhaps I want to feel more energetic and free from physical limitations. This inner drive can be a powerful motivator.
But it's also possible that external pressures are influencing me. Family, doctors, and society often have their own ideas about what's best for our health. Sometimes, this pressure can make us feel overwhelmed and lead us to make choices that aren't really right for us.
Journaling, or having a heart-to-heart with yourself. You could try keeping a journal to help organize your thoughts and feelings about health and weight loss. Regular entries will allow you to define the problem and monitor your progress.
Talking to a therapist, if you feel you need professional help. A therapist can help you identify deep-seated motivations and beliefs.
Experiment, try different approaches to taking care of your health and see what gives you the most pleasure and satisfaction. Are the decisions you make in line with your values and desires, or do they rather meet the expectations of others?
It's important to remember that motivation can change over time. What was important to us a year ago may not be as important today. That's why it's worth regularly thinking about your goals and adjusting your actions to them.
Good luck!
